All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten -Robert Fulghum
Life can get complicated, and who is better at complicating things than us humans? So often we get caught up in the details of our life we overlook the ways we can simplify.
This week’s inspiration comes from the bestselling author Robert Fulgham. May this be a gentle reminder that we can simplify our lives with a few things we learned in Kindergarten;
Live a balanced life, learn some, think some, draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.
It happens to all of us, we get caught up in life, our jobs, our families, our neighbours, gossip, annoyances etc.
We stress and make things harder than they need to be. Once in a while we get a reminder that gives us an opportunity to remember the things you learned in Kindergarten and see if they are part of your life now;
How often do you simplify your life? Do you have your own golden rules? How balanced is your life? Do you complicate things? When was the last time you had warm cookies and cold milk? When was the last time you sang or danced? When was the last time you held someone’s hand? When was the last time you said you were sorry?
Everything you need to know is in there somewhere, the golden rule, basic sanitation, love and support. Think of what a better world it would be if we went back to basics.
If we had cookies and milk at 2, a nap at 3, did a little singing, dancing, playing and some work, all in one day!
Imagine if we all put things back where they belong. Give yourself a break and get back to the basics, enjoy the simplicity and wonder of it all.
